Set in the ancient woodlands in North Essex, near Saffron Walden, Audley End Miniature Railway offers a magical day out for families. Visitors can enjoy a full calendar of activities including Woodland Adventure Days, Train & Play days as well as our ever-popular Special Events, Easter, Half Term, Summer, Halloween and Christmas. With our Fairy and Elf Walk, Adventure Playground and Woodland Cafe, and special seasonal activities it’s a wonderful day out for the family. Created by Lord Braybrooke, who had a lifelong passion for steam trains, the railway was officially opened to the public in 1964. There have been many changes over the last 60 years, from initially offering picnics under the trees and spotting teddy bears in the woods from the train, to today’s jam-packed calendar of seasonal events, complete with resident fairies and elves - to entertain children of all ages.
